Last night, Jeff cormack, Kevin rouse, and I blasted up to vail to check out a rail jam we were invited to. It was a pretty crazy night of activities and alot of riding for alot of people. Luckily I was in the Pro/Am devision so didnt have to qualify. but there was 80 snowboarders that were in the open class that had to compete against each other to make it to finals, then from the 12 that went to the finals, top 3 got to go on to the pro/am devision. The pro/am devision was an invite list that included some smith riders, CU team, and some others. We shredded for 40 minutes and then they took the top 8 to actually go to the real finals. Luckily I made it to the real finals. The course consisted of 2 sides; the crazy side was riders left and was a Down-Flat-Down into a Y rail (up rail into 2 down rails) that looked like a Y from an arial view. then on riders right was a really long down rail (50ft) into a flat box. During the 40 minute jam. I landed tricks such as fs360 out of the dfd into bs360 out of the Y rail, fs board on the down rail into bs 450 onto the flat box. I did some other various tricks as well. 360's out 270's on the kink and some others. The finals is where people started going off. I knew the judging was overall so I made a point of landing some good tricks right off the bat, and making sure it didnt look like I was just hucking. In the end I finished in 3rd place, making 100$ WOOOO, lol. I'm quite happy with the 3rd place as it was my first pro contest of the year, and was a rail jam which definitly isnt my thing.

Planning on doing some jumping tomorrow, so stay tuned for the news.

So yesterday was a pretty exciting day. As the snow settled in boulder, we new jibbing had to go down. There was a good 6-12 inchs and plenty of it so we new we could make something happen. The jib mission started for me at 11am, after 2 classes and with the second 2 being canceled, I was ready to do work.

We started at an undisclosed location somewhere up towards the mountain, which was a nice white bridge rail pretty wide and turned out to be a little too mellow and slow. basically we needed to be going faster to make it look sick. Next was a single barrel down rail, pretty mellow as well but super long. Nick got a nose press but that was about as sick as it got. Just speed issues once again. we proceeded to 2 other rails and was shut down before we could even build a jump. kinda a dissapointing day, but still good to be up there.
