So this past friday our team continued on its Jackson hole shredding and took it out to the back country, A bunch of the team headed home, but those in search for some shots stayed and hoped for some good weather. We got out to the national forest

The adventures continue on to today with one more day up at Jackson hole. We arrive around 9:30am after getting my board left behind, and rounding up the troops. The reports read that the base was 38 degrees and the top 22 degrees with 42 mile an hour winds so it was a little difficult to decide on layering. No matter the case we got on the mountain ready to shred. with my knee hurting a bit we headed over to Apre Vous to start. the snow was a bit heavy and the runs were fairly choppy, but with a little searching it was possible to find some good stuff. After a couple of runs there on to the Gondola to check out the conditions over there. found a few decent spots, but still on the search. Took up the thunder lift, looking to traverse to some good stuff. On our way across we happen to spot a little lip. It was pretty funny to come across actually, the lip seemed to have been built that morning but no one had hit it. They had attempted to hide the jump with tree branches and such but it didnt work out so great, we spotted it pretty easily. We checked it out then headed back to the chair ready to hit it this time/ Got over there and had some issues figuring out who would ginnea it, then some random rider blasted in and got firsties, so we all maned up and hit it. There was a few wild style hits and a couple of good ones, I was pretty happy with my fs 3. We grabbed some lunch and headed back up, we took a few more runs, met up with the team and decided it was about time to peace.

Back to the pad to dry up and rest up, tomorrow comes the backcounty.

So today the C.U. Snowboard team headed back up to Jackson to get there shred on. Got a good early start and was at the mountain by 8:30AM. Unfortunately it had randomly warmed up to about 34 degrees and so it was kinda raining and sketch. The conditions were not ideal by any means. The snow pack is what locals were calling upside down; basically really light snow yesterday, then a layer of ice, then really dense wet snow on top, making everything very unstable. So due to the far from ideal conditions we decided to stay in bounds and shred the safer parts of the mountain. This plan became more relevant as the morning continue. Tram and Gondola didn't open till about 12:30 so only a few chairs were shred-able. We headed to the Apre Vous chair once again for a couple of laps then down to casper which had some great tree runs. Took a couple of runs there and then went over to the Gondola to hit Dicks Ditch. There was a about 5 of us taking laps in dicks ditch and it was so fun. Tons of little jibs all over the place, little hips and drops and we couldn't get enough.

Well any ways back to the house to shower up, do some blogging and watch some movies. now its bed time to prepare for tomorrow's epicness.

So yesterday was the C.U. snowboard teams first day in Jackson Hole. The team arrived the day prior Monday, after a nice 9 hour drive starting at 4:30AM in boulder. Any ways we rolled up to the mountain at 8:45am hoping to catch first chair. But due to the lift ticket situation and long lines I didnt get on the slopes till around 10:30 but then it was game on. We jumped on the tram and headed to the top ready to rip the fresh light snow. It had been dumping all night and morning so the snow was so so good. We followed a Jackson local out of bounds and to some of the sickest snow ever, we went across a sketchy open face and then down perfect untouched waist deep powder. After the nice open field it was into the trees for just tons more perfect snow. A few more tram runs and then onto an unwanted lunch with the team, and back to the mountain. Decided to switch it up and head to the other side of the mountain to hit some stuff off Apre Vous. We hit some really good lines on boundary line, so stuff that we had found 2 years back. We did some more party laps trought there and then headed back to the tram around 3PM, tram laps were pretty sick in that they would take about an hour, involved a bit of hiking and always had perfect snow. Got done with the tram runs around 4:10PM and was very ready to get back and ice the knees. Oh also in between lunch and Apre Vous I took one lap through the baby park which involved a 6ft bs 720 to heel catch to concussion. apparently I was knocked out for a few seconds and then came back saying I was knocked out. Pretty exciting little event.

Back to the house to rest up and get the legs back for the next day.

So last Sunday after a hard night with a migraine I headed to Breck to get my shred on. Got a ride to the bottom of beaver run by a buddy and was on the lift by 9am. headed straight to the park and was ready to get my jump on. luckily the mountain decided to open the dew tour course, and I could start linking some tricks. I did some tricks in the smaller park to warm up, then met up with Silas and started jumping the biggies. I was working on doing back side 9 to cab 9 but was having issues on speed so came up a little bit short a few times, which took its toll on the knees. After some more runs and watching some ill runs by kevin Pearce, Scotty Lago, and Steve Fisher. Got on the road by 1pm so I could miss some traffic, but still got a little bit.

Back to Boulder to clean up and get ready for Jackson hole at 4:30AM

Thanks Seth

So Saturday, was a pretty fun day shredding. I headed up to Breck the night before, so I could wake up nice and early the next day. I got up and was on the mountain for first chair at 9am, my buddy Jeff Meyer dropped me off at the lift which saved me lots of time on the bus. I got up there and it was snowing but pretty empty for a holiday Saturday, so I took advantage of it. I rode almost all of the lifts and even the T-bar which was epic. I took the T-bar up then cut over to chair C and rode some really good untouched pow, before breaking my tow strap. After that I headed down to the the bottom of Beaver run to the first shop which didnt have the piece to fix it then to two more shops before finally getting the piece. By then it was about 1pm and it seemed like the right time to start jumping, headed over to park lane and started lapping, got some fun tricks, spinning all ways and trying something new each time. After some laps there I met up with Nate Kern, and Eric Wylet and started a new lap which involved the first jump in freeway, then the last bigger 2 in park lane. It was a pretty fun lap and each of us just kept stepping it up, kern doing cab 9's. Eric with crazy upside down cab 5's and I got a decent bs 1080 which made me pretty happy. Got done with the day as it got a little over cast and headed back to Meyers house for some Chillie and chilling. Minus the sudden midnight migraine it was a pretty amazing day.

thanks for tuning in Seth

So yesterday some of my room mates and I headed up to keystone to get our shred on. Bit of a different day for me, as I only took two laps through the park. We started out on some stupid icy mogul run then proceeded to a couple of crappy tree runs, after which we went and bombed some steeps. Pretty fun to just go balls out as fast as possible. After some more of those, we proceeded to take a couple of laps through the park. I just hit the medium line as it was my first day back and what not but it worked out pretty good, got a version of my contest run so I'm feeling pretty good about my shredding. I had a pretty damn fun day just shredding and not concentrating on the park. The mountain was pretty crowded on the runs, but the lift lines werent bad. Going to skip today due to the crowds and traffic but Ill be back up soon.

-Thanks for tuning in

So Yesterday was the Mt. Dew Winter Tour Slope style Qualifiers. I showed up and the jumps were way bigger then anyone would have thought. Got straight to practice, nice and early 8am wooo, and tried to figure out the speed.  Heres how the day broke down, first run I just planned on straight airing everything, but when I went into the second jump I apparently had way to much speed and ended up clearing the entire landing. Next run i droped in, spun the first jump straighted the second then went to straight the third and came up on the knuckle.  Next run consisted of decking the first jump. As you can tell it started off pretty ruff.  I took some more runs and finally got comfortable with spinning them all, even if it was just a 3 over the last.  I scrapped my board and was ready for the runs. My first run I dropped in, stomped the first jump great, then through a real good 7 off the second jump which turned out to be way too huge and cleared the entire landing again.  So first run is the throw out run, and second run needs to be the show stopper.  With butterflys in the stomach I dropped in with one goal, to land on my feet and get through the whole run, gap lip went perfect, Cab 5 stomped, front 7 not perfect but too my feet and with what I thought was plenty of speed for the third.  Figured i wouldnt have the speed to do the 9 I wanted so just threw the bs 7 landed it clean and went into the last rail front boarded and was done. what i wanted a landed run. i thought that it would be enough to put me in, but to my suprise it wasnt quite enough. I ended up taking 28th and I have to be happy with that I suppose. On to the next contest and on to the next day of shredding, knowing I need to step up my game a bit.

So today Pat Abramson and I, headed up to keystone to train and prepare me for the Mt. Dew tour Slopestyle.  We left boulder with the idea that it was going to be pretty crappy up at the mountain, but to our luck it turned out to be pretty nice. I had a very difficult time getting into the groove, but around 1pm something switched and it was game on. Not sure what ticked but i started landing my run, i really wanted to work on the cab 9, but got a pretty good contest run 3 times in a row and called it a day. Day break and ready for the contest.

Yesterday was a day full of jumping and broing down. Rode up with pat A in the CUST van and arrived at keystone ready to shred. Keystone had there area 51 newly opened, and it was looking great. A pretty damn decent triple line, and people were going off. The triple line consisted of probably a 30 to 50 to 65  which flowed very well. As it was my first day really jumping, I took it easy for a few runs of jumping and getting used to the set up. After I was comfortable I decided to start working on my contest run. The first jump was a little small for the trick I plan to do, but was able to do a variation of it. Definitly was having some issues getting my feet on the ground, and landing straight. but for sure progressed and made the best out of the day.

Got back to boulder and the snow was falling.

Keep an eye out for my jib blog, plenty of snow in boulder to start jibbing today.

Today was one more great day up at echo mt. Nick and I got a bit of a late start but still had plenty of time for some good turns. The snow at echo was at its best and the features smooth and flowing. Great to see the showing of kids wanting to shred and get some good coaching from the echo team, coaches and sims pros. Everyone seemed to be having a great time in the sun, getting there shred on and making stuff happen. After an hour, Nick and I took a couple of photos and video for echo and the echo TV episode 2. Nick was killing it today doing 180 on, 180 off the echo "e"

Another epic day and echo mt.

2008.12.07 22:26:39

So Thursday night was a night of fun and excitement here in Boulder. CU snowboard team and Sig Nu put on a rail jam to donate money for a charity. The set up was pretty legit for a campus rail jam. It consisted of a down bar and flat down box, but speed seemed to be a bit of an issue for the box. Even though the rail was a bit short, it was still fun, and allowed for a wide number of tricks to be thrown down. DJ pat A was turning beats, redbull girls passing out product, and everyone having a great time. The contest was pretty damn full and intense but it was see the interest and want to help out. The contest consisted of skiers, with Nick martini winning. Then the women with Hallie Leach winning, and 3 heats of men with Jason winning that. Definitly a great time and stocked to see good jams going down.

 Photos to come soon.

Once again the story begins were the other left off...In boulder. Jeff picked me up at 9:30 and we headed up to echo. Got up to the mountain, wax the board and got ready for the good times. The mountain was so good today, good snow, good features, good people. After a couple of hours lapping the park my boy lansford showed up ready to take some photos. We started out shooting the big echo "e" and got some really cool stuff. Marc did some sick stuff as well, and Im sure the photos came out great. we took a little break, ate some Qdoba and talked some business then were back to shooting. We went down to the pill and tried to get some stuff there. The pill was going not quite as planed, had to go to fast and light wasnt great. Next onto the Wall ride, unfortunatly it had taken a beating and the tranny wasnt great. The day of shooting ended there, but the fun was yet to stop. Joined the sims guys and took a couple laps, as we took some laps we tried to join the groups of shredders and do a bit of coaching. All the kids seemed to be having a great time and learning lots, so that was pretty sweet to see.

Heading up there tomorrow to do the same thing, but well see what special events come out of it.

2008.12.06 16:26:28

So yesterday Friday December 5th, one of my favorite spots opened, Echo MT. Jeff Cormack and I decided to come check out the setup for the opening day. On our way up we decided to scope a rail, and probably should have done it but couldn't quite get our stuff together. So we continued on, on our journey to the moutain. Up at echo, after getting our pass' and some mingling we joined teams with Marc and Steve and took some laps. Echo is definitly moving in the right direction this season. They opened with a pretty nice jump and some very innovative features; including an "e" that stands about 10 feet tall, and a long pill that im sure will get killed soon enough.

After some good laps and some good falls on my part, we said our good byes and headed back down to boulder to find some urban to hit. Unfortunatly in the short amount of time we were up in the mountains most of the snow melted, and it didnt look like we were going to be able to do our rail. Marc decided to just head to boulder skatepark for some fun jib. At boulder skate park we set up the mini ramp with a speed bump so we could go back in forth. I was only really able to do 2 times, but cormack and marc got atleast 3. Great little session until snow got to wet and too sticky. We decided to call it a day and get home to relax.

Back home to rest and on to the next day. Heading up to Echo again today so stay posted for more...
